Even with having Halloween and a field trip, this seems like a very long week for all of us!
Reminders:
Reading Workshop
This week was a little off. We were only able to meet with each group once. We have really gone through reading in a small group and how to talk respectfully while discussing the book. We looked at the sequence of a story and the importance of characters and setting.
Writing workshop
We are right in the middle of our personal narrative final unit project. We have students, planning using sketches, adding writing to their pictures, and revising to add more details. We are enjoying using the entire writing process! We can't wait to show you the final project during conferences!
Math workshop
We will be starting Unit 3 on Monday. We took the post unit 2 math assessment yesterday...they did amazing! I will be sending home the pre and post test along with the graph Monday or Wednesday of next week. We took the unit 3 pre assessment today. I reminded them that a pretest tells me what they already know and what I need to teach them. We celebrated the end of unit 2 by having a free choice math games centers. We played ten frame top it, top it, higher roller, and rock, paper, scissors, pencil.
Don't forget to read every night!
Reminders:
- Please send in any canned goods for our Gleaners food drive. Bags were sent home yesterday in blue folders. Fill them, send the bag in and we will put it in the large boxes int he hallway by the receiving door.
- Spelling: Attached to the spelling words is a small piece of paper that has a QR code. This is another option to practice spelling words. To use the QR code, you need a device that has an app with a QR reader on it. Once you download the QR reader app, you scan the square code and a spelling website with the spelling words for this unit will show up. You also have access to the challenge words. These words practice the same spelling pattern, but are a little bit harder. Use it or lose it. I wanted to offer another way to practice spelling words. :)
- NO SCHOOL Tuesday November 7! Teachers have professional development because of election day.
- Everyday math Online: Students can access our everyday math online from home! On this you have access to the lesson that we are on that day, as well as any previous lessons. You have any resources that you will need for homework, there is an e-toolkit. There are everyday math games that we play at school and much more. We have played around with this in computer lab 2 times now. check it out... the kids love it!
