We will have a 1/2 day of school Tuesday November 21. Dismissal is at 11:36.
No school on November 22, 23, 24!
Thank you for signing up for conferences! I can't wait to see you and talk with you about your child's progress this year!
Math workshop
Keep working on the math homelinks at home. If there are difficult parts to the homelinks, please let me know and I can work with your child during our math time to see if I can help. We are right in the middle of unit 3. We are looking at our number line as a tool to help us understand addition and subtraction number stories, skip counting and to compare numbers. If using the number line becomes frustrating, it is ok. This is a tool that we are using to help understand our math concepts. We will keep using this tool and we just might need to have more practice to truly understand how to use this tool to help in math.
Writing Workshop
We have done a couple different fun activities related to Thanksgiving and turkeys after our hard work with our personal narrative project. We have thought about the things that we are thankful for in life. We tried hard to think about how the turkeys feel about Thanksgiving and made disguises for them to run away and hide. The week we get back from Thanksgiving break, we will be visiting our Kindergarten classrooms to share our amazing stories with them.
Reading Workshop
We are continuing to practice making connections to our own lives while we are reading. We are using the strategy to help us as readers understand the story that we are reading a little better. We have just started to think about how we do this when we read to self this week. We have great success using this strategy while I read a loud a story to the class.
I hope that everyone has a restful and family/friend-filled holiday. Enjoy time with each other!
