I hope you and your families enjoyed time with each other over the holiday season!
Our first two days back have been very busy reviewing our routines and expectations while at school. Everyone has been doing an amazing job!! I am so impressed how well they have remmebered some of our routines.
Last night was the first night of our new math homeowrk routine. Math homework is now expected to be turned in the next day. We are keeping track in our data notebooks if we turn in our completed homeowrk or if we do not have homework or if it is not completed. If homework is not completed, then they will complete the work during their free time, which could be their second recess. So far most students remembered to turn in their math homework. Please help your child be responsible in putting the homework in their backpack so it is turned in the next day. Remember this math homeowrk should not lastt for more than 20 minutes. If it takes longer than that stop and write me a quick note so I now that I need to spend more time ont his with your child. Thank you!
Yesterday in your child's folder you had another parent access sheet for seesaw. Seesaw is a digital portfolio tool that only you(anyone else you choose to sign up) and myself have access to see your child's learning in action. We will begin using this more frequently. Our first practice on how to use this with the students will happen this week. They will learn how to post a picture or a video. Sign up and be looking for your child's first post of their learning in 2017!
A scholastic book order sheet went home last night. A quick reminder, you can order online. I have a link under Links for Parents. There it will explain the classroom code you need to order any items. I will place the next order at the end of January. The reason I wait to put in the orders, is to have free shipping. If you order is $20 or more then you will have free shipping. Any time that you do have a larger order that is more than $20 and you would like me to place the order earlier, let me know.
On Friday, I will send home the first reading log of the year. The reading log will go home on Fridays and they need to be returned on the following Thursday. On the reading log their is a grading scale based on how many minutes your child read that week. It is recommended that your child reads 20 minutes every night. I have an electronic copy if you need it during the week for any reason. The electronic copy can be found under the links for parents. Please contact me if you have any questions.
