Friday was such an amazing day! I have to say that this was one of the best fundraiser events that I have seen for an elementary school! PTO did an amazing job advertising and working with the school to promote this event. It shows with all the money that our generous donors gave to help raise over $20,000 to help replace our not so safe lunchroom tables! Friday was a day of celebration that the entire school participated in the fun run! What a great way to bring our school together! Check out the pictures from the fun run
In the morning of the fun run, we were very distracted, but we finished our first unit of math with a number sense challenge. Students were put into groups of 5-6 with one challenge: Each groups had to create a number line up to 10 using only tin foil. They were given 3-4 minutes to plan and share ideas with their group, then they were given some tin foil and worked to make this creation. There were some disagreements along the way, but they learned how to work out problems and make sure that everyone was participating. They found that if one person had an idea and everyone else just went along, it was not too successful. They had to share ideas and at time re-plan to finish the creation. In the end, they were very proud and many students found strengths in other students in their groups and I am sorry if your tin foil goes missing at home! Most of the class wanted to use tin foil during their 2nd recess to make more creations.
