Reading Workshop
I have finished conferencing with students to check in on goals and progress in our reading groups. I am so proud of how wonderful they have grown in such a short time. I am always amazed at what growth I see throughout the year! Be proud of your child... he or she works really hard as a reader (partner, independently and within a group discussing.) We have to use our knowledge of nonfiction text features to help read our animal books to find information on certain subjects about our animals. This is sometimes not so easy.
Writing Workshop
This week we finished our research portion of the animal reports. Next week we will be writing our rough draft for our animal books. They have worked hard talking in groups and working together to find information about their special animal. We look forward to seeing our progress during conferences!
Math Workshop
We have ended our unit 6. We will have our Post test for unit 6 on Monday and we will have our pre-test for unit 7 on Tuesday.
Science
We looked properties of a solid and began to look at liquids. As scientists, we need to remember that we need to use or sense of touch, our sight for observations and hearing to really help understand states of matter.
We had a Mystery reader! Mr. Lopez came and read "Creepy Carrots". What a fun book, even though most have read this story before...we all enjoyed the clever little carrots!
- Bagels next week will be pre-order only because of green bagels for St. Patrick's day! 75 cents, exact change only. Flavor options are plain or salt. If you bring money on Wednesday it will be too late and no bagels will be given.
- Tuesday March 15 is a 1/2 day, AM only
- Monday a half sheet of paper with your conference time will be sent home. Please make sure that you return the bottom portion accepting the assigned time or not and then giving another option.
