Mindfulness Update Week Two
Hello Parents! On Tuesday, the students learned about “Heartfulness” or sending kind thoughts to others and even to themselves to cultivate positive emotions when times get difficult. Many kids even chose to send well wishes to a favorite pet. They learned that through this practice of being purposeful with their thoughts, they could shift their feeling of helpless to something constructive and uplifting.
On Thursday, the topic was being mindful of our bodies. We discussed different ways our bodies talk to us. For example, when we’re hungry, our stomachs growl or when we’re scared our hearts race. Ask your students for some other examples. We then practiced the “Body Scan” to see what we would discover in our own bodies. We talked about the importance of listening to our bodies so we can take good care of them and make healthy choices for ourselves.
It’s a pleasure working with your students, they’re really great kids. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss anything regarding the program: [email protected]. To learn more about mindfulness or mindful events coming up, please http://www.mc4me.org/events
