The entire class had an amazing day on Friday. They did very well during the evacuation drill. I was extremely proud of them.
We had a special visitor come into our classroom on Thursday, Mrs. Keelean! She read "What Does It Mean To be Present". It is a story about the different meanings of the word present and in the end focusing on the meaning of being present and focused in what you are doing at every moment, such as when you are eating, when you are writing or when you are talking with your friend.

Blue Folders
There were a few things in the blue folders on Friday.
1. Raz kids access login cards and parent email permission slips. Your child can access Raz kids at home. Your child can go into their just right level. They will not be able to move to the next level until they have listened to, read to and taken a quiz and passed it on each book at that level.
2. Sight words
I have finished assessing the student on which sight words they know for September. You will see that some words are highlighted in red, those are the words that your child 'knows'. When I say 'knows' I mean your child can point to the word and say it without trying to sound out. I would like for you to work with your child on the words that are not highlighted. Take 5-10 words and practice them with flash cards. Start in the first column and move to the next. I will reassess in the beginning of December.
Spelling
Spelling this week is a little different. It is a review week. You will see that there are 4 previous units. I will be choosing at random 6 spelling words from the 4 past units. The point of this type of list is to see if spelling patterns taught are being learned.
